Willy Schnell

Willy Schnell (born February 14, 1927 ) is a German oboist and university professor.

Life

Willy Schnell's musical training began at the Army Music School in Bückeburg . After the Second World War he began his career at the Stadttheater Heidelberg before he was solo oboist in the Palatinate Orchestra in Ludwigshafen from 1948 . In 1958 he came to the Württemberg State Theater, where he took the position of first solo oboist, which he held until 1993. He received a professorship for oboe at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart until he retired in 1994. His students included Martin Kleinecke ( Johann Strauss Ensemble ) and Gerhard Veith (solo oboist at the Augsburg Theater ).

Willy Schnell became known primarily through his numerous appearances with Karl Münchinger at home and abroad. Schnell was also a member of the Bach College in Stuttgart . Numerous recordings on records and CDs have been bestsellers in the classic genre for years. Regular concert tours have taken him all over the world.

During his time at Willy Schnell, promoting the next generation was important. To this day he is active as a juror for the Jugend musiziert competition . Willy Schnell lives in Gerlingen near Stuttgart.
