Willy Zielstorff

Willy Adalbert Karl Zielstorff (born September 16, 1866 in Jeeser near Miltzow (Pomerania), † 1938 in Plieningen (Württemberg)) was a German agricultural chemist and rector of the University of Königsberg.

Life

Zielstorff was born the son of the landlord Julius Zielstorff († 1887) and his wife Bertha (née Büttner). He initially received private lessons, moved to the large city school in Rostock in 1874 and moved to the Realgymnasium in Greifswald in 1880. From 1886 to 1890, Zielstorff studied natural sciences, especially chemistry, at the University of Greifswald. In 1890 he received his PhD in Greifswald. PhD. In 1891 he took an assistant position at the Königl. Saxon experimental station in Möckern near Leipzig and in 1896 changed to the Königl as a station chemist. Wuerttemberg agricultural experimental station in Hohenheim. Here he devoted himself to research into artificial fertilizers and concentrated feed. On October 1, 1905, he became director of the agricultural research station in Insterburg. In 1916 he was appointed professor of agricultural chemistry and agricultural bacteriology at the University of Königsberg. There he was rector of the Alma Mater in 1926/27 and retired in 1934 for reasons of age. After his retirement he lived in Plieningen (Württemberg).

Politically, Zielstorff was close to the German Nationals in the Weimar Republic without being a member of the DNVP .
