The W & H KG (W & H), based in Lengerich (Westphalia) in Tecklenburger Land is a German engineering company and international provider of equipment for production and processing of flexible packaging.

The family business generates more than 90% of its sales abroad. With around 2,500 employees worldwide, the group of companies generated sales of more than 726 million euros in 2015.

W&H supplies manufacturers of flexible packaging worldwide, for which machines from the three product areas of extrusion , printing and processing machines are developed and produced. Another customer segment are manufacturers or contract packers of bulk goods, e.g. B. from the fertilizer , petrochemical or salt industries that operate W&H bagging systems.

In the product area extrusion equipment manufactures W & H blown film and cast film for processing thermoplastic plastics to mono- and multilayer films, including the associated winding machines.

The printing machines product area focuses on the manufacture of flexographic and gravure printing machines . The products in this area are supplemented by coating and laminating units or machines.

The processing machines product area is about machines that process flexible materials such as paper, foils, fabric made of plastic tapes or composites into ready-to-use empty containers. This includes machines for the production of sewn, glued and welded industrial bags, e.g. B. Cement and building material bags . The product range also includes bagging machines based on the English form, fill & seal (FFS) process.

history

The company was founded in 1869 by Gottfried Windmöller and Hermann Hölscher in Lengerich, Westphalia, for the purpose of manufacturing paper bags and apothecary capsules . In 1877 the founders developed the first cone-shaped machine, one year later commercial mechanical engineering began. With the production of paper sack machines, which began in 1927, W&H established the market leadership that the company now occupies in this segment. In 1948, the product range was expanded to include printing machines, and in 1967 plastic processing machines. Today, W&H not only supplies individual machines, but also integrated production lines and complete packaging plants.

education

In the 2015 financial year, the company employed 84 trainees. As of July 1, 2017, W&H bundled all educational activities in the W&H Academy GmbH. Windmöller & Hölscher Bildungs GmbH, founded in 2004, was completely transferred to the new subsidiary. In addition to training, the W&H Academy also includes advanced training and customer training. It also acts as a temporary employment agency for W&H Kg and subsidiaries.
