The Winship Point is a headland in the Maxwell Bay of King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It marks the western limit of the entrance to Potter Cove .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it after Jonathan Winship III in 1960. (1780-1847), captain of the sealer O'Cain from Boston , who had operated from Potter Cove between 1820 and 1821 in the waters around the South Shetland Islands.
