Winteler

Winteler is a family of rural people from Glarus who are long-established in the former communities of Filzbach , Mollis and Niederurnen (today all of them belong to the community of Glarus Nord ).

Name bearers are:

  • Jakob Winteler (1897–1966), Swiss historian as well as Glarus archivist and librarian
  • Jost Winteler (1846–1929), Swiss linguist and father of Albert Einstein's house in Aarau
  • Maja Winteler-Einstein (1881–1951), German or, by marriage, Swiss Romance scholar and sister of Albert Einstein
