Hans Gissel

Hans Gissel (born July 12, 1931 in Rostock ) is a German electrical engineer , former top manager of the electrical industry and former president of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

Life

Hans Gissel studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University . In 1952 he became a member of the Corps Marko-Guestphalia Aachen . In 1960 he was at the RWTH Aachen at Heinz Beneking to Dr.-Ing. PhD. After completing his studies, he joined the AEG Group, to which he had been in leading positions for almost four decades until 1993. Most recently, he was a member of the board and was responsible for communications technology, defense technology and research. In 1985 he was a constituent member of the information technology advisory group of the Federal Ministry of Research . He was one of the fifty people who were portrayed as SDI Mafia in the Red Papers of the Marxist Student Union Spartakus in November 1985 , and one of the personalities who were the subject of internal political discussion in the Red Army Faction .

From 1993 to 1996 Gissel was President of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). He was also Vice President of the German Committee of the IEC and advisor to the Steering Committee of the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies .
