Harald Ortwig (born April 27, 1959 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German mechanical engineer and professor for fluid technology , hydraulics and pneumatics at the Trier University of Applied Sciences .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1977 at the Ratsgymnasium (Gladbeck) , Ortwig served for two years in the German Navy . In the winter semester 1979/80 he began to study mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University. After internship in South Africa, as a scholarship holder of the South Africa Foundation, and Brazil, he graduated in 1986 with a degree in construction technology as a graduate engineer . At the Institute for Hydraulic and Pneumatic Drives and Controls at RWTH Aachen University, where he worked as a student assistant from 1982 and as a research assistant from 1986, he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. In 1990 by Wolfgang Backé . PhD.

From 1990 to 1993 he worked as an application engineer and project manager at Sauer-Danfoss in Neumünster. Since the winter semester 1993/94 he has been a professor in the mechanical engineering department at Trier University of Applied Sciences, where he represents the subjects of fluid technology, hydraulics and pneumatics in teaching and applied research. The focus of his research in the field of hydraulics is the design of hydrostatic drives, the further development of hydraulic components and the investigation of vibration processes occurring in hydraulic systems. He also works by regulating the pressure and flow rate of technical gases, in particular of compressed natural gas (CNG) for operating natural gas vehicles . His academic teaching activities also focus on mathematics, measurement and control technology and social skills.

Harald Ortwig is a Weinheimer and Kösener Corps student. Since the merger of the Corps Albingia Aachen, which he has been a member of since 1979, with the Corps Marko-Guestphalia in 1996, he has been wearing the Marko-Guestphalia ribbon. Since 1996 he has been a member of the Kösener Corps Marchia Brno .

Teaching abroad

  • In 2002, Harald Ortwig received a guest professorship at the Instituto Superior Tecnologico TECSUP Lima and Arequipa in Peru.
  • In 2007 he received a DAAD guest professorship at the Bach Khoa HCMC, Technical University of Saigon (Vietnam), and in 2010 another at the Technical University of Hanoi.

Expert and expert activity

  • In 1995, Harald Ortwig was publicly appointed and sworn in by the Trier Chamber of Industry and Commerce as an expert for fluid technology (hydraulics & pneumatics).
  • In 2002, the Trier Chamber of Commerce expanded his expert appointment to include the specialist area of damage analysis and evaluation of machines and systems .
  • In 2001 Ortwig was a founding member of the board of directors of the Competence Center for Automation, Rationalization and Innovation in Construction (KARIB) at Trier University of Applied Sciences.
  • Since 2003 he has been an advisor to the Investment and Structural Bank Rhineland-Palatinate (ISB) on technology issues and innovation projects .
