Heinz Beneking
Heinz Beneking (born March 28, 1924 in Frankfurt am Main ; † October 26, 1996 in Aachen ) was a German physicist and pioneer of semiconductor technology in Germany.
Live and act
Beneking studied physics in Frankfurt am Main and Hamburg and received his doctorate in 1951 with a thesis on considerations and experiments on the dynamic secondary electron multiplier. He then worked in industry and as an assistant at RWTH Aachen University (habilitation). In 1961 the Aachen University appointed him director of the newly established Institute for Transistor Technology , which was renamed the Institute for Semiconductor Technology in 1964. In 1966/67 he was dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at RWTH, and in 1989 he retired.
Beneking was one of the first professors in Germany who dealt with the then new transistor technology in teaching and research.

Trivia
Beneking sometimes worked with both hands on the blackboard in his lectures. While he was drawing a graphic with his left hand, he was writing the associated formulas and texts with his right hand.
