Winterhude Bridge

The Winterhude Bridge is a two-hinged steel arch bridge that connects the Hamburg districts of Eppendorf and Winterhude .

The four-lane at this point bundesstraße 5 crosses as Hudtwalckerstraße on Winterhuder page or as Ludolfstraße Eppendorf on side over the bridge Winterhuder the Alster . The roadway is held in place by a steel truss arch.

Construction and predecessors

The 27.10 m long and 20 m wide bridge was built between 1918 and 1921 and replaced a wooden bridge that had led over the Alster at this point since 1877. This wooden bridge was only allowed to be entered by people, while carts had to use a nearby ford to cross the Alster, which is very flat at this point.
