In the foreword of the second extended edition from 1938, z. B. unequivocally emphasized that all songs should serve the National Socialist worldview :

"Our song tells of our worldview: the political song on the flag as well as the cheerful sage or a saying while eating - they shape our daily routine, they are an expression of our being."

The book is by subject areas such as driving and resting , from all districts , people and land , labor and state or years running divided. Each section is preceded by quotes from poets and Nazi greats such as Baldur von Schirach , Gerhard Tannenberg and Adolf Hitler himself.

The National Socialist orientation of the book is already illustrated by the section “20. January - Day of the German Revolution ”with a quote from Adolf Hitler celebrating the day of the National Socialist seizure of power in 1933. The following songs such as B. Wake up, you German empire , heart of the peoples, fatherland , now let the flags fly or In some empires the text is then exactly matched to the National Socialist propaganda .

The book was published in paperback format and, with its approx. 200 pages, was well suited for storage in a bag or backpack.
