We from Mülheim ( own spelling : WIR AUS Mülheim ; long form: Voter Initiative Ruhr - Alternative - Independent - Solidarity Mülheim an der Ruhr; short form: WIR AUS Mülheim ) is a group of voters in Mülheim an der Ruhr . In the 2004 local elections , two of their representatives were elected to the Mülheim City Council. In 2009 , only one of the two mandates could be defended, as was the case in 2014 .

Self-presentation

The electoral group describes itself as a non-partisan alliance. In their self-portrayal, they attach importance to the fact that they are "not committed to any party political direction" . Only one of the two councilors elected in 2004, Gerhard Schweizerhof and one of the two district representatives, his wife Sabine, was known to have been or are members of the MLPD .

Political positions

The demands of WIR, z. B. “Free lunch for every school child!” Or “Priority for free education” belong to the left-wing political spectrum .

In the city council

During the election period of the City Council of Mülheim from 2010 to 2014, the city councilor Gerhard Schweizerhof (WIR AUS Mülheim) belonged to the WIR-Linke parliamentary group. The non-attached Cevat Bicici has been a member of the council for the electoral alliance since 2014.

Relations with the MLPD

Part of the local political strategy of the Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany (MLPD) is to support local electoral alliances in the cities, on whose lists their members can move into the representations.

When the council member of WIR AUS Mülheim, Detlef Habig, told the NRZ at the end of June 2007 that communism and the goals of the MLPD were not compatible with the goals of WIR AUS Mülheim, a member of the MLPD submitted a declaration to the general meeting that he had acquired von Habig distance. The declaration was accepted by a majority. Habig then resigned from the electoral group in 2007. He kept his council mandate.

The election event for the 2014 municipal electoral list brought about a change in the relationship between WIR AUS Mülheim and the MLPD: After several lost votes on the issue of the distribution of expense allowances, the MLPD members organized in the alliance tried to blow up the event. The rest of those present reacted with another vote, which the bloc had lost again - after which all MLPD supporters left the event. As a result, the previous district representative Sabine Schweizerhof did not run again on the WIR AUS Mülheim list.

  3. Frank Hellig: WE before the end. In: The West . NRZ , August 9, 2007, accessed on July 7, 2015 : “The scandal came on Tuesday at the extraordinary general meeting. Gerhard Schweizerhof [note: council member and MLPD member] submitted a paper for voting in which the members were to distance themselves from a statement Habig had made in the NRZ at the end of June. In it he clearly distanced himself from communism, warned against infiltration and described the goals of the MLPD as incompatible with those of the WIR. The majority of the members voted for Schweizerhof's paper, whereupon Habig and others declared their departure. "
