Cyclone in the Bergisches Land, 1906
The hurricane in the Bergisches Land in 1906 was a weather event on August 14, 1906 in the district of Solingen and Remscheid , which caused great damage and several deaths.
A thunderstorm came from the Rhineland from the southwest over the Bergisches Land . A tornado formed , which led to considerable damage to houses, bridges and forests. The villages of Balkhausen I , Balkhausen II , Scharfhausen , Schaberg , Dorperhof and Müngsten were particularly affected . The tornado reached the Wupper near Beyenburg .
There were three dead and many injured, as the "Solinger Kreis-Intellektivenblatt", today Solinger Tageblatt , reported.
