Florian Speer

Florian Speer (born February 25, 1953 ; † January 17, 2012 ) was a German historian and archivist .

Life

Speer received his doctorate in 2000 from the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . He worked as a freelance historian in the fields of monument preservation , genealogy , economic history , archive management , commemorative publications and church history . He was a board member of the Wuppertal department of the Bergisches Geschichtsverein , in whose series he published numerous articles.

Speer was also known for his extensive studies on the history of the world's oldest piano manufacturer still in production, Ibach, and on the use of forced labor in his hometown of Wuppertal .
