Business School (Bavaria)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The business school is a type of school that provides general education and basic vocational training in the professional field of business and administration and prepares them for a corresponding professional activity. After passing the final examination, it awards the business school certificate, which is a secondary school leaving certificate (former term: Mittlere Reife ).

General information

There is a 2-level, 3-level and a 4-level form of the Bavarian business school. For a few business schools, the 5-level form has also been approved. This 5-stage form can be offered by independent business schools from the 2018-2019 school year on the basis of a court decision.

Structure of the Bavarian Business School (before curriculum plus)

The 4-stage form follows on from the 6th grade of the secondary school, the 3-stage form on the 7th grade of the Hauptschule, Mittelschule. Both forms can also be attended by high school students or secondary school students.

The 2-stage form follows on from the qualifying secondary school leaving certificate.

To transfer to the entry level of the four- or three-year branch of the business school, a transfer certificate from the secondary school can be available, which confirms the suitability of the student to attend the business school. The submission of the intermediate certificate from the secondary school is sufficient for registration. If the grade average in the subjects German, English and mathematics is worse than 2.66, the student must take part in a three-day trial lesson in the subjects German and mathematics. If at least grades 3 and 4 are achieved in the trial lesson, the trial lesson is passed. With two grades of 4, the parents can decide whether or not to attend business school.

To transfer to the entry level of the two-year branch of business school, you must have passed the secondary school leaving certificate. Pupils from Realschule or Gymnasium need to have passed the 9th grade in the subjects of the business school to enter the two-year business school.

Graduation

Due to the special professional reference, successful graduates of the business school have a legal right to shorten the training period in 38 training occupations according to the vocational school credit regulation . With the successful completion of the business school one receives the business school qualification , which according to Art. 25 BayEUG represents a middle school qualification (former term: Mittlere Reife).

Training directions

With the 2017-2018 school year, there is only one form of business school. Before that, there were two different training courses in the 4-level and 3-level form of the business school, the commercial or, alternatively, the mathematical-scientific. After successfully attending the 7th grade of the 4-year branch or when entering the 8th grade of the 3-year branch, a student had to decide whether he would like to study a business or mathematics and science education by completing business school. In the 2-stage business school there is only a commercial training course.

Commercial training course (H-Zug, after the old term "commercial school"). Abolished since school year 2017-2018 due to the new curriculum.

In the commercial training direction, economic subjects (accounting, business administration) were more represented. This training course is particularly suitable for students who, after graduating from business school, want to begin an apprenticeship in a commercial, information or administrative profession. In the eighth grade, the compulsory subject mathematics is replaced by the subject business mathematics . From the ninth grade onwards, mathematics can only be taken as an elective or as an elective. Since the 2017-2018 school year, all grades must attend mathematics classes.

Mathematical and natural science education (M-Zug): Abolished since the 2017-2018 school year due to the new curriculum.

In the mathematics and natural sciences education, in addition to economics, natural science subjects (mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc.) were increasingly promoted. This training direction was recommended to students who, after graduating from business school, are striving to continue their school education (e.g. technical college , business school , grammar school ), since these secondary schools require previous knowledge of the 10th or 11th grade and often mathematical Entrance exams are to be taken. This training course also provides the basis for technical and craft professions.

Elective subjects: Abolished since the 2017–2018 school year due to the new curriculum.

In the 9th and 10th grade of the 3- and 4-year branch and in the 10th and 11th grade of the 2-year branch, the timetable at many business schools contained so-called elective subjects. This means that a student of the mentioned grades had to choose one of up to five subjects. Switching between subjects was only possible in the first half of the year. After this half-year the change was no longer possible.

particularities

The business school is the only type of school to offer the innovative practice firm as a subject (practice firm work). Since the 2017-2018 school year it has been renamed to practice company and has been promoted to the final exam subject. The highlight of the work so far was the 1st Bavarian International Practice Company Fair 2004, which took place in Rosenheim. More than 100 exhibitors from Bavaria, Italy and Germany offered their virtual goods. Since the 2005/2006 school year, the individual practice firms have been subjected to a quality test. On a voluntary basis, it is possible to have your own practice firm certified.

Another special feature was the compulsory subject project work. It was abolished with the new curriculum. Subjects of the project work could be offered by the school as desired, be economically or generally oriented, and for example have theater play, painting, the establishment of a corporate identity via school clothes and their marketing or any other ideas. The main objective was to promote and strengthen teamwork, social skills, methodological skills, etc. The business school was the only type of school at which such activities - usually referred to as voluntary workgroups or working groups at other types of schools - as part of the compulsory teaching of every student with 40 lessons must be attended per school year.

The business school was the only type of school in Germany in which one had the option of mathematics as a compulsory subject in favor of mathematics in the 3- and 4-level form (not the 2-level) after the 7th grade by choosing the H-train Deselect compulsory accounting. Those who chose the H-Zug could only attend mathematics as an elective in the 9th and 10th grades. A student on the H train had accounting as a major (and examination subject). In addition to mathematics as a major (and examination subject), a student on the M train also had accounting as a minor. In the 2-stage form, mathematics only existed as an elective subject. From the 2017–2018 school year, mathematics is a compulsory subject in all grades.

Since the beginning of the 2014–2015 school year, a new concept with the “ curriculumPLUS ” has been introduced in the business school, beginning with the 7th year . The focus here is on competence orientation. At the same time, new subject names were created. “Business Administration” and “Accounting” are combined into “Business Management and Control”. Biology, chemistry and physics can be found in the subject “People and the Environment”. The subject “word processing” is integrated into “information processing” and “practice company”. In the final exam in the 2017-2018 school year, the subjects German, English, business management and control and training companies are examined for the first time. Mathematics can also be chosen instead of exercise companies.
