Witali Konstantinowitsch Kalojew

Vitaly Konstantinowitsch Kalojew ( Russian Виталий Константинович Калоев ; born January 15, 1956 in Tschermen near Ordzhonikidze ) is a Russian civil engineer and was Deputy Minister of Construction of North Ossetia-Alania between 2008 and 2016 .

On July 1, 2002, Kalojew lost his wife and two children in the plane collision in Überlingen . In February 2004 he traveled to Switzerland and stabbed the air traffic controller who was on duty during the accident in front of his house in Kloten . The High Court of the Canton of Zurich sentenced him to eight years imprisonment for willful homicide in October 2005. Since the subsequent appeal was partially upheld by the Court of Cassation of the Canton of Zurich, the Higher Court reduced the sentence in July 2007 to five years and three months, as Kaloyev was assigned a severe reduction in criminal liability . The prosecutor then appealed again, so that the case was heard by the federal court. On November 8, 2007, the federal court upheld the sentence of five years and three months. Since Kaloyev had already served two-thirds of this sentence, he was immediately released from prison and returned to Russia.

Kaloyev was appointed Deputy Minister of Construction in North Ossetia-Alania in 2008, retired in 2016 and in the same year received the highest state award from the local government, the medal "To the Glory of Ossetia". The medal is awarded for the best achievements, the improvement of the living conditions of the inhabitants of the region, the education of the younger generation and the maintenance of law and order.

Kalojew is married for the second time and has two children.
