Witchburner is a German thrash metal band founded in 1992 .

history

Witchburner was founded as a two-man band by Tankred Best and Florian Schmidt in 1992. After a few rehearsals the first demo was recorded under the title "Future Tales", which was not officially sold due to the poor production.

After a few gigs, the band was put on hold for a short time because Tankred Best helped out as a guitarist for the band Drunken Devil . Drunken Devil was dissolved again and in 1996 Tankred Best, Tony Skudlarek, Florian Schmitt and Simon Seegel teamed up to let the name Witchburner live on again. In the same year, the first CD Witchburner was released on its own and limited to 500 copies. After a few gigs, Florian Schmitt had to leave the band and was replaced by Christoph Ungemach.

Various gigs and a small tour followed before going back into the studio in 1998 to record the second CD "Blasphemic Assault", which was released some time later on Undercover Rec.

After these recordings Tankred left the band and was replaced by Patrick Kremer and Andreas Schäddel. But Andreas had to leave the band after a short time. From then on, the positions on the drums changed steadily until a suitable person was found in Balor in 1999. The line-up changed again when Christoph and Tony left the band. The bass position was replaced by Andy Süss. In September 2000 two songs were released from the "Future Tales" demo and "Blood is flowing" deer. recorded, both of which appeared on the United Forces of Metal Raging War split EP with Blizzard . The EP was published by Iron Bonehead Productions in a limited edition of 666 pieces.

Tankred was a guest guitarist on these recordings. But Balor also had to leave the band because the stress with his two other bands was too great, he was replaced by Volker Rössler. In May 2001 the band went back to the studio to record their third CD "Incarnation Of Evil", which was released again in August on Undercover Rec. After a few gigs, Volker also left the band for professional reasons. After a short search, a suitable replacement was quickly found. Marcel took over the position of second guitarist with immediate effect and Felix is now on the drums.

In April 2002 a live split picture '10 with Abigail was released, limited to 500 pieces. A short time later the song "Die with Pride" was recorded for a 4-part split EP with Derketa, Gravewürm and Sadomaniac, which was released by Iron Bonehead. In September the "German Thrashing War" MCD was recorded, which was then released on RIP Records in the USA, while the vinyl version was released by the band as an in-house production. Then the Dead City (Violent Force cover song) EP was released by Maniacal Records. In 2004 the song "False Guardians" was recorded for a split EP with Bitterness, which was released via Danza Ipnotica Records from Italy.

At the beginning of 2005 the production of the fifth album "Final Detonation" began. During the recording, Patrick left the band for personal reasons. Andy quickly found a suitable replacement for vocals. But since all the texts had to be rewritten, the production was put on hold for a while and was only finished in August. This time Jowita Kaminska was commissioned to do the cover painting. a. has also worked for Exodus, Attacker, Manilla Road, Metal Inquisitor etc. "Final Detonation" was released on CD on October 24, 2005 on Undercover Records and the vinyl version followed a few weeks later.

In January 2007 the production of the sixth album "Blood Of Witches" began, which was then released in June on Evil Spell Records. For the cover we decided again for Jowita Kaminska who gave the whole thing an appealing appearance. The vinyl version was released in October with the bonus track "Agent Orange" by Sodom in an edition of 500 copies. In 2011 Pino Hecker was introduced as the new singer. In early 2012 the band played in Portugal and Japan.
