Without Dreams is a funeral doom band founded in 2013 .
history
The one with NSBM - and DBM bands like boom , White Riot , Psychosis 4:48 or Self Destroyer known musician Sergey "Thanataur" Andrievskikh founded Without Dreams 2004 as secondary and solo project.
The Yekaterinburg- based Funeral Doom project released the demo recording Suicidal Demo [n] in 2014 in cooperation with Scars of Eternity Records . The debut Rejected By Angel, Betrayed By Demon was released in 2015 via Endless Winter . Two years later, Andrievskikh first collaborated with Silent Time Noise for the release of Funeral in the Infinity of Cosmos . Two more years later he continued the cooperation with Withering . In the meantime, the download EP Pain & Fear was released , which was released together with Scars of Eternity Records in 2018.
Without Dreams releases were rarely reviewed. For the Webzine Doom-Metal.com were Rejected By Angel, Betrayed By Demon and Funeral In The Infinity Of Cosmos discussed praise. The debut, according to Chris Hood, had a “clear Gothic influence” that gave Rejected By Angel, Betrayed By Demon “a dark presence”. Doom-Guy wrote about Funeral in the Infinity of Cosmos that it was a "very well done [...] beautiful symphonic Funeral Doom".
style
Without Dreams' music is classified as Funeral Doom . For a classifying comparison, reference is made to interpreters such as Sadael Flegethon , The Ethereal and Thergothon .
For the genre, the music is "pretty quick and warm". Andrievskikh "does not remain in the typical ultra-slow roar" of many funeral doom bands. The music would instead remain “fresh”, although the pieces are presented as an “endless flow” with little variation in tempo or dynamics . According to reviewers, Without Dreams uses “negative space” from “long passages with minimalist instrumentation ”. The playing of guitar and keyboard, described as dominant, dramatic and melodic, is loosening up. Varying between growling and whispering, the vocals complement the atmosphere with an "oddly calming" effect. When present, the guitar is considered faster than expected, yet heavy and slow enough to still be considered funeral doom. Meanwhile, the keyboard remains the most dominant instrument. The music is "simple but exciting". Although it is not tuned down like many similar bands, the playing of the guitar is described as "surprisingly heavy" in relation to keyboard use.
