Without Grief was a Swedish melodic death metal band from Falun .

Band history

Without Grief was founded in November 1995. In the beginning of 1996 the first demo Forever Closed was recorded in the band's own Rago studio in Falun. It was very well received by the public and sold around 400 copies. A promo recorded in 1996 was only sent to record labels and magazines. These two demos piqued the interest of several labels, but the band decided to sign a deal with Serious Entertainment . Jakob Hansen , the head of the record label, produced her debut album Deflower , which was recorded in 1997 at Aabenraa Studio in Denmark .

The Deflower's final piece , Vocalise, is a piece by Rachmaninoff played by two 15-year-olds, a pianist and a cellist .

Before the recordings for the second and last album Absorbing the Ashes , Nicklas Lindh and Ola Berg were replaced by Daniel Thide and Bjorn Tauman.

After the breakup, Tobias Ols, Nicklas Lindh and Ola Berg played with the death metal / thrash metal band 21 Lucifers . Patrik Johannsson is playing with Yngwie Malmsteen today .

Reception and texts

The debut album Deflower was considered an outstanding mixture of melody and heaviness; Many fans criticized Absorbing the Ashes because this mixture was lost in favor of hardness.

All texts were written by Jonas Granvik. You deal with "Darkness, Death and Mourning" and the Catholic Church in Sweden.
