Withoutending ( spelling : WithoutEnding ) is an Australian progressive rock and metal band from Melbourne , which was founded in 2001 under the name WithoutEnd .

history

The band was founded in autumn 2001 under the name WithoutEnd as a duo consisting of the drummer and singer Nicholas "Nick" Georgakopolous and the guitarist Michael Totta. The following year a first untitled EP was released. It consists of just two songs. Six months after these recordings, the band went back to the studio to record their debut album. The work took place under the direction of Endel Rivers in 2003 at Palm Studios Australia . Sam Schepis had joined the band as a bass player. With Jim Georgeopoulos as a singer, a few appearances followed in 2004. The album was released in May 2004 under the name WithoutEnd , the sound carrier was re-released worldwide in 2005 on ProgRock Records . The group had meanwhile been renamed WithoutEnding. Jim Georgeopoulos joined in July 2006 as a permanent member of the band.

style

According to Brian Giffin in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal , the band plays dark progressive metal. Michael Popke from seaoftranquility.org wrote in his review of the album that the band plays complex progressive rock that borders on progressive metal. The group processed elements from groups such as Fates Warning , Marillion and Pain of Salvation . The songs consist of dark arrangements and emotional lyrics. In addition, you rely on polyrhythmics and odd time indications . Danny Mayo of hairlessheartherald.co.uk described the album as dark progressive metal with odd time signatures and melodic electric guitars. He heard influences from Dream Theater , late Rush and Queensrÿche .
