Vladimir Beluntsov
Wladimir Belunzow ( Russian Владимир Белунцов ; * 1974 in Perm ) is a Russian composer and pianist .
After taking lessons from his father, a conductor , Belunzow studied at the Perm Conservatory until 1993. He continued his studies at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow . In 1994 he went to the USA , where he studied at the Manhattan School of Music from 1995 . Here Belunzow earned a bachelor's degree (1999, with the Symphonic Prelude ) and a master's (2001, with Autumn Canticle ).
In 2000 he won first prize at the ALEA III International Competition for Young Composers , where his Serenade was premiered in Boston in 2000 . In 2001/02 several of his vocal compositions were performed in Perm, the world premiere of his Four Songs on Poems by Emily Dickinson took place in Saint Petersburg in 2002 . In addition to his work as a composer, Belunzow also appeared as a pianist and especially as a piano accompanist for singers, instrumentalists and at ballet performances, including six years with the Ballet Hispanico of New York .
