Vladimir Kutz
Wladimir Kutz (born July 13, 1947 in Lüda ) is a translator and conference interpreter for Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian as well as publicly appointed and sworn police and court interpreters for Russian, Spanish, English and Ukrainian. He teaches at the University of Leipzig in the Philological Faculty at the Institute for Applied Linguistics and Translatology (IALT).
Life
After graduating from high school in Simferopol in 1965 , Kutz studied at the former foreign language college Maurice Thorez in Moscow , where he graduated with honors in translation and interpreting for Russian, Spanish, English and German in 1970. Since 1971 Kutz has been teaching Russian, English and Spanish at the Institute for Applied Linguistics and Translatology . In 1978 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the translation of inconsistent Russian terms into German, and in 1989 he completed his habilitation with his work on compressions in simultaneous interpreting of technical texts. In 1995 he was publicly appointed and sworn in as translator and interpreter for Russian, Spanish and English, and in 1999 for Ukrainian.
