Vladimir Dimitrov Stoychev ( Bulgarian Владимир Димитров Стойчев , English transcription Vladimir Stoychev; born February 24, 1892 in Sofia , † April 27, 1990 ibid) was a Bulgarian major general , diplomat and member of the International Olympic Committee .

Life

Stojtschew was a graduate of the Theresian Military Academy in Vienna and the Military School and Military Academy in Sofia. In 1924 and 1928 he took part in the riding competitions of the Olympic Games. From 1930 to 1934 he was an attaché in France and the United Kingdom. In 1934 he was appointed head of the Cavalry Academy in Sofia, but dismissed as an antimonarchist a year later.

Stoychev was a general in the 1st Bulgarian Army during World War II . From 1945 to 1947 he was ambassador to Washington and to the United Nations.

He was president of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee from 1959 until he was replaced by Ivan Slavkov in 1982 .

From 1952 to 1987 he was a member of the International Olympic Committee, where he was an executive member from 1956 to 1959.
