Wladislaw Sasypko

Vladislav Petrovich Sasypko (born January 22, 1953 in Donetsk , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet boxer . Sasypko was two-time European champion and bronze medalist at the 1974 World Championships .

Career

Sasypko was the Soviet flyweight champion (up to 51 kg) in 1974 and 1975 and the first Ukrainian master of sport (1975). He played 140 fights, of which he won 135.

1973 Sasypko won the European Championships for the first time in Belgrade . In the course of the tournament he beat u. a. Enrique Rodríguez , Spain (5-0). The following year he reached the semi-finals of the World Championships in Havana , but lost it to eventual world champion Douglas Rodríguez , Cuba . Sasypko's last international championships were the 1975 European Championships in Katowice . He defended his title here with a final win over Constantin Gruiescu, Romania (3: 2).

In the following years Sasypko could no longer assert himself at the national level and therefore ended his career in 1978.
