Woffo from Merseburg
Woffo von Merseburg († April 15, 1058 in Merseburg ) was a Eichstätter cathedral treasurer and later bishop of Merseburg (1055-1058). He came from Bavaria . As cathedral treasurer under Bishop Heribert (1022-1042), he had the Marienkirche in Eichstätt rebuilt . In Merseburg, Woffo introduced the veneration of the Eichstätter diocese saints Willibald and Wunibald , whom he knew from his homeland . This created a permanent connection in the liturgical area between the Bavarian and East Saxon dioceses.
