Lloydstrasse residential complex

The Lloydstrasse residential complex in Bremerhaven - Mitte , Lloydstrasse 18–24, Gasstrasse 11, Grazer Strasse 23–29, Max-Eyth-Platz 1–2, was built from 1954 to 1958 according to plans by Hans Siedentopf.
The buildings have been a listed building in Bremen since 2011 .

history

Up until the Second World War , block perimeter developments with tenement houses from the 1890s stood on these streets. In 1944 this part of Bremen-Mitte was totally destroyed by bombs.
The five-storey residential complex Lloydstrasse with the single-storey row of shops on Grazerstrasse and Lloydstrasse were among the first major urgently required residential construction projects in Seestadt, which began in 1954 in open development by u. a. the municipal housing company Bremerhaven (Stäwog) was created.

The State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Bremen found: "The facility is part of an overall urban planning concept as an alternative to the block perimeter development that was formerly available at this point ..."
