Wojciech Konikiewicz (born April 26, 1956 in Wroclaw ) is a Polish composer, jazz and improvisation musician.

Live and act

After completing his training at the music school in his hometown, Konikiewicz studied piano and composition in Warsaw, Germany and France, and from 1977 to 1983 electroacoustic music at the Politechnika Wrocławska and philosophy at the University of Wroclaw . He has been active in the Polish jazz scene since the early 1980s and founded the bands Tie Break , Session Acoustic Action , Green Revolution and Free Corporation . Since 1985 he has also worked with the musicians of the British band Pinski Zoo , as well as with Benjamin Zephaniah , JJ Burnell ( The Stranglers ) and Ian Paice ( Deep Purple ), the Polish rock musicians Grzegorz Ciechowski , Tomek Lipiński , Robert Brylewski , Lech Janerka , Wojtek Waglewski , Muniek Staszczyk and Tomek Budzyński , the Japanese performance artist Nobuhiko Utsumi , the double bass player Hideto Kanai and others. In 2003 he took out the album Zone K with Steve Harris and Jan Kopinski .

Konikiewicz's compositions include works for symphony and chamber orchestras, chamber music (string quartets, works for saxophone and accompanying instrument), jazz pieces, experimental and electronic compositions and sacred music. As a composer and interpreter of film, drama and ballet music, he worked with Jerzy Domaradzki , Waldemar Szarek and Krzysztof Krauze , among others .
