Wolf van Elsen (born February 2, 1940 in Bochum ) is a former German travel company and book author.

Life

Wolf was born as the son of the entrepreneurial couple Paul and Mathilde van Elsen.

After training as a travel agent at the Essen travel agency, he initially took on the position of authorized signatory , later as managing director / owner of the family company founded in 1931 and led it to one of the largest private travel agencies in Germany with z. T. more than 60 employees. In one of his offices he set up a bazaar in which treasures from all over the world were sold, including Imari and Satsuma porcelain from Japan, Buddhas and Netsukes from the Far East, masks from Africa, and clothing from Central and South America.

In addition to his professional activity and his many trips to over 70 countries, which the local press always reported on (including the reception by King Hussein of Jordan in Aqaba and his cover story in the Daily News in Durban, South Africa: "WOLF CHIPS IN WITH WORLD DISCOUNT GOLF " ) or his longer stay at the Momella Game Lodge with Hardy Krüger in today's Tanzania (where the bestseller" HATARI "was filmed with John Wayne and Hardy Krüger) he achieved sporting successes. He was a multiple club champion in tennis and golf and was also in the Guinness Book of Records . He won ribbons as a dressage rider and trophies in car races. In 1978 he was elected President of the Golf-Club Ruhr e. V. He wrote two books: "I have seen the world" and "Alexander the Great" as well as the joke book "Golf rules for seniors" .

At the beginning of his IT days, he also founded a software company and developed programs for travel agencies and golf clubs.

After the travel agency was sold to Thomas Cook Ltd. in 1987 he ran an advertising agency and modernized his farm together with his wife Ursula. He later handed it over to younger hands for reasons of age.

Van Elsen lives secluded in his hometown Bochum.
