Wolfgang Brenscheidt

Wolfgang Brenscheidt (born January 30, 1964 ) is a German basketball official and former player. He played for SSV Hagen  in the basketball league . Brenscheidt has been Secretary General of the German Basketball Federation since 2008 .

career

Brenscheidt won several German youth championships with SSV Hagen , and in 1981 he won the bronze medal with the German national team at the European Cadet Championships in Greece .

From 1984 to 1987 he was part of SSV Hagen's Bundesliga line-up and then played for BG Hagen in the 2nd Bundesliga basketball division .

In 1991 he joined the German Basketball Federation (DBB), initially working as a consultant for grassroots and recreational sports, in 1994 he took over the position of DBB sports director, and in 2008 he became the association's general secretary.

In additional functionary activities at the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) , Brenscheidt became the spokesman for the game sports associations and was accepted into the member council of the world basketball association FIBA and the competition committee of the European basketball association . In 2019 he was elected to the board of the European basketball federation.
