from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wolfgang Christen (* 1961 ) is a German physical chemist and has been Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Humboldt University of Berlin since 2016 .

Life

Christen completed a physics degree at the Technical University of Munich , which he graduated in 1989 with a diploma on "Phase Transition Thermometers with High Temperature Resolution for Calorimetric Detectors Employing a SQUID".

He then did his doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics in Garching . He received his doctorate in 1995 for the topic "Sub-Picosecond Dynamics of the Electronic Interaction of Molecules and Clusters with Solid Surfaces".

He then worked as a post-doc at Tel Aviv University .

In 1999 he then moved to the Humboldt University in Berlin , initially as a researcher under Klaus Rademann . Since 2016 he has been appointed professor of physical chemistry there.

research

Christen researches mainly on the behavior of gas phases, which consist of nanoparticles . Among other things, he investigates phase transitions and surface interactions of the nanoparticles.
