Wolfgang Ehrhardt

Wolfgang Ehrhardt (born April 21, 1948 in Dortmund ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Between 1968 and 1977, Wolfgang Ehrhardt studied Classical Archeology, Classical Philology , Ancient History and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn . The doctorate took place in 1977 with a thesis on the topic of stylistic studies on Roman wall paintings. From the late republic to the time of Nero . In 1978/79 he traveled to the Mediterranean as a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . The habilitation followed in 1994 at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg . He teaches as an adjunct professor in Freiburg.

Ehrhardt primarily conducts research on Greek and Roman painting, Greek sculpture from the classical period, Roman house architecture and urbanism, and the history of science. With the Casa dell'Orso , the Casa di Paquius Proculus and the Casa delle Nozze d'argento he worked on several houses in Pompeii for the series Houses in Pompeii .
