Wolfgang Eichler

Wolfgang Eichler (born April 4, 1938 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German SPD politician and was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt from 1994 until his resignation when he was appointed State Secretary in 1999 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1956, he studied physics at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . In 1962 he completed his studies with a degree in physics. He then worked as an assistant and senior assistant at the Physics section of the University of Halle until 1992. In 1975 he received his doctorate. From 1992 until he moved into the state parliament, he worked as a department head in the state center for political education.

Eichler is married and has two children.

Political party

Eichler joined the SPD in March 1990 and was treasurer of the SPD regional association.

Political mandate

Wolfgang Eichler was a member of the state parliament from the second electoral term until his appointment as State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture in 1999. Krimhild Fischer moved up for him . Eichler represented the constituency of Aschersleben . Since the Magdeburg model had lost its majority in the state elections in 2002, Eichler resigned from his office as State Secretary.
