Wolfgang Fürstner (born July 21, 1944 in Breslau ) was chief executive officer of the Association of German Magazine Publishers (VDZ).

Life

Fürstner is a fully qualified lawyer , originally worked as a lawyer and joined VDZ in 1978. There he initially worked in the area of ​​collective bargaining and social policy, which he eventually led as head of department and legal advisor. In 1979 he took over the management of the consumer magazines section. In 1985 he became the association's deputy chief executive officer. From 1992 to 1995 he was managing director and at the same time chairman of the specialist group for popular magazines and from 1995 to 2011 managing director of the trade association “Die popular magazines” in the VDZ.

Fürstner founded the VDZ Akademie GmbH and acted as its fiduciary partner. In 1997 he took over the general management of the Association of German Magazine Publishers. From June 29, 2006 to December 31, 2011, Fürstner was a managing member of the VDZ Presidium. On December 5, 2011, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit by State Minister Maria Böhmer .

Fürstner is the board spokesman of the Germany Foundation Integration, which he founded . From 2012 he has headed an advisory office for politics and media. He advises Deutsche Post AG and Axel-Springer-Verlag .

Wolfgang Fürstner is married and has five children. Since 1967 he has been a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg .
