Wolfgang Fremuth (* 1954 in Leonberg ) is a German biologist . He was head of the European department of the Frankfurt Zoological Society (ZGF), is a member of BUND and a supporter and promoter of EuroNatur .

Life

Fremuth studied biology at the University of Tübingen and the University of Hohenheim . He was an employee at the State Institute for Apiculture in Hohenheim (BaWü). He then became a nature conservation officer at the BUND Federal Association and was its deputy federal manager from 1985 to 1992. From 2001 to 2011 he was head of the European department at FZS.

From 2011 to 2016 Wolfgang Frehmuth led a team of experts for the development of the Prespa National Park in Albania and the creation of the cross-border biosphere reserve (Prespa-Ohrid-Seenland). This was recognized by UNESCO on June 14, 2014 .

Fremuth was President of the European EECONET Foundation until October 2016 .
