Wolfgang Günther (motor sportsman)

Wolfgang Günther (born November 30, 1937 ) was a successful motor sportsman in the GDR .

The trained master welder and later technology engineer Günther was initially a racing cyclist. In 1955 he switched to motorized two-wheeled sports and drove both sand and grass track races as well as speedway . After a break of several years, he entered automobile racing in 1974 as a member of MC Dynamo Finsterwalde. Just a year later he was driving in performance class I and was fifth in the GDR championship. In 1976 and 1978 he came third, in 1977 he won the GDR championship title.

Günther is married and has three children: Sylvia (* 1960), Kerstin (* 1962) and Uwe (* 1966).
