Wolfgang H. Schrader

Wolfgang H. Schrader (born November 5, 1942 in Berlin ; † November 17, 2000 ) was a German philosopher. Schrader was President of the International Johann Gottlieb Fichte Society from 1991 to 1997.

Life

Wolfgang Schrader studied philosophy , theology and history at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . In 1970 he started with the topic “Empirical and absolute self. On the history of the concept of life in the philosophy of Johann Gottlieb Fichte " at Heidelberg University doctorate . The dissertation on a central concept of Fichte's philosophy became a groundbreaking work for research.

In 1982 Schrader completed his habilitation at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a thesis on "Ethics and anthropology in the English Enlightenment. Studies on the change in moral-sense theory from Shaftesbury to Hume ." This work was also received with great recognition in specialist circles. 1985 Schrader was a professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Siegen appointed .

Schrader has presented the main area of ​​his research and teaching, practical philosophy, in numerous publications. Schrader was a founding member of the International Fichte Society and its president from 1991 to 1997. Together with Klaus Hammacher and Richard Schottky , he was the editor of the Fichte Studies.
