Klaus Hammacher

Klaus Hammacher (born November 24, 1930 in Aachen ) is a German philosopher and university professor.

Live and act

Hammacher was born in Aachen in 1930 as the son of Forestry Councilor Karl Hammacher and his wife Cläre. He studied philosophy, German, history and law at the universities of Freiburg, Bonn , Munich and Cologne . He completed his studies in 1959 with the state examination. 1958 Hammacher was at the University of Cologne at Heinz Heimsoeth Dr. phil. PhD. With a study on the philosophy of Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi , the habilitation took place at RWTH Aachen University in 1967 .

Since 1970 Hammacher has taught as a professor of philosophy at RWTH Aachen. In addition, he was Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the international Johann Gottlieb Fichte Society and President of the Spinoza Society . Hammacher has also been co-editor of the complete edition of the works of Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi since 1998 . Since 1996 he has been an external member of the Academy for Non-Profit Science in Erfurt .

Hammacher is Catholic, has been married since 1958 and has three sons.
