Wolfgang Hess (journalist)

Wolfgang Hess (born June 11, 1952 ) is a German science journalist. From 1994 to 2016 he was editor-in-chief of Bild der Wissenschaft (BdW). Since the end of 2012, Hess has also been the editorial director for special interest titles for the Konradin media group , in which Bild der Wissenschaft also appears. Since October 2016 he has been the editorial director for special projects.

Hess studied geography, geology and cartography and obtained a diploma as a geographer. He then completed a traineeship at the Südwest Presse and was then a court and police reporter at the Südwestpresse in Ulm. He then initially became editor for geosciences, energy and the environment at Bild der Wissenschaft. From 1987 to 1990 Hess was the technology editor at Wirtschaftswoche . He then returned to Bild der Wissenschaft and finally became editor-in-chief in 1994.
