Wolfgang Kaiser (legal scholar)

Wolfgang Kaiser (born November 6, 1963 in Freising ) is a German law scholar and university professor.

Life

In 1983 Kaiser passed the Abitur at the Dom-Gymnasium Freising . He studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and attended lectures and seminars on ancient history and classical archeology. In 1994 he passed the second state examination in law.

In 1996 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD. He worked as a research assistant and until 2001 taught at the University of Bayreuth . In 2001 he completed his habilitation at the law faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University. From 2002 to 2005 he taught at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen ; since April 2005 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . Since 2008 he has been a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences . In 2007 he was awarded the Premio romanistico internazionale Gérard Boulvert science prize.

His research focuses on civil law , Roman law , history of canon law and recent private legal history .
