Wolfgang Kram (born August 9, 1941 ) is a German basketball official .

Life

Kram founded the auditing and tax consultancy firm "Kram & Partner" in Trier in the 1960s .

From the mid-1980s, Kram became involved in the board of the TVG Trier , he became head of the basketball department, which was later spun off from the entire club, and held this office until 1995.

In September 1991 Kram took up the office of president of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft (AG) Basketball-Bundesliga, he was chairman of the license league committee of the Basketball-Bundesliga and from October 1997 chairman of the supervisory board of Basketball-Bundesliga GmbH. On November 20, 1999, Kram was one of the signatories of the contract between the German Basketball Association (DBB) and the Basketball Bundesliga , with which the DBB ceded its marketing and event rights to the league, which thus gained greater independence. During Kram's tenure as President of the AG Basketball Bundesliga, there was a significant increase in the economic power of the Bundesliga clubs as well as an increase in the number of spectators and the establishment of minimum requirements for league participants such as a venue with at least 3000 spectator seats, the obligation to play the games on a parquet floor and have a team budget of at least one million euros.

Kram resigned in 2006 as President of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft (AG) Basketball Bundesliga. He was then appointed honorary president of the AG. According to Jan Pommers , the former Bundesliga manager, Kram, as a “creative thinker”, “played a key role in the professionalization and popularization of the league”.
