Wolfgang Kube

Wolfgang Kube (born February 9, 1937 ) is a former German soccer player who played second division soccer from 1968 to 1973 in Tiefenort, Thuringia .

Athletic career

From 1959 on, Wolfgang Kube played for the company sports association (BSG) of the Werra potash combine activist Kali Werra Tiefenort . The BSG was playing in the third-class II. DDR -Liga at this time . When this division was dissolved in 1963, Kali Werra was incorporated into the now third-class district league Suhl . In 1965 Kube and the team won the district cup, then in 1966, 1967 and 1968 district champions. After two failed promotion rounds, the BSG activist was promoted to the second-rate GDR league in 1968 .

In his first second division season in 1968/69, Kube was the top scorer of the potash workers with eleven goals, which he had scored as a midfielder in 22 of the 30 league games played. In the seasons 1969/70 and 1970/71 he played every 30 point games, from then on in the defense. He remained a regular at Kali Werra until 1973, but only scored seven more goals as a defender. After the 1972/73 season, the BSG activist had to relegate to the district league. When the BSG returned to the GDR league in 1974, Kube was no longer part of the league squad, so there were 117 GDR league games in five seasons.
