Wolfgang Loescher
Wolfgang Lörscher (born July 26, 1952 in Trier ) is a German linguist . He taught as a university professor at the University of Leipzig at the Institute for English Studies and was dean of the philological faculty of the University of Leipzig.
Life
After graduating from high school in 1972, Lörscher studied English and political science at the University of Trier and graduated in 1978 with the state examination for teaching at grammar schools. From 1978 to 1981 he worked at the University of Essen as a research assistant in the field of English and linguistics . In 1981 he received his doctorate in philosophy with a dissertation on the linguistic description and analysis of foreign language teaching as a discourse . From 1981 to 1987 he worked as a university assistant at the University of Essen. In 1987 he qualified as a professor with the font Translation Performance, Translation Process and Translation Strategies. A psycholinguistic investigation. He then worked until 1988 as a private lecturer and research assistant in the field of English and linguistics at the University of Essen. This was followed by substitute professorships and visiting professorships in English linguistics at the universities of Trier, Dortmund , Greifswald / Neubrandenburg and Hildesheim . From 1993 to 2018 he was Professor of English Linguistics at the University of Leipzig and was re-elected Dean of the Philological Faculty in 2010. His retirement took place in October 2018.
