Wolfgang Maier (autograph collector)
Wolfgang Maier (born July 27, 1952 in Munich ) is a German autograph collector and extra .
Live and act
Wolfgang Maier is a trained car mechanic . In his spare time he first collected postage stamps. In 1974, by chance, he was given an extra role as a police officer. Other roles followed, which enabled him to make contacts with filmmakers and actors. He began collecting artist photos and autographs. His aim is to get a photo together with the artists if possible.
He has now appeared as an extra in over 800 films and has collected over 140,000 autographs and photos, which he keeps in over 500 albums (as of 2014).
In 2007 part of his collection was shown in the exhibition “Herr Maier und die Stars” in the Munich Film Museum on the occasion of the Munich Film Festival .
Wolfgang Maier is married and has three children.
Trivia
Manfred Krug and Walter Sedlmayr refused to be photographed with him.
Willy Harlander is said to have said to him "Don't stop your collection, that would be a shame."
