Wolfgang Nebel

Wolfgang Nebel (born November 15, 1956 ) is a German computer scientist and professor for the design of integrated circuits at the Department of Computer Science at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg .

Life

Nebel studied electrical engineering at the University of Hanover and received his doctorate from the computer science department of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern as an employee of Reiner Hartenstein . Until 1993 he was head of CAD software development at Philips Semiconductors in Hamburg. His current research area is methods and tools for embedded systems : methods and tools for HW / SW specification and synthesis as well as energy efficiency in ICT systems from semiconductor circuits to notebooks to data centers. Nebel was and is scientific program director or full board member of a large number of international conferences and participates in many other committees and professional organizations. He is chairman of the board of the OFFIS research institute , deputy chairman of the edacentrum , member of the board of its-mobility association, member of the main board of Bitkom , member and spokesman of the information and communication technology network of the German academy for technical sciences acatech , fellow of the IEEE and co-founder of ChipVision Design Systems AG. From 2015 to 2019 he was Scientific Vice President of the Deutsche Industrieforschungsgemeinschaft Konrad Zuse e. V. Wolfgang Nebel is a leading international expert in the design of energy-saving microelectronic circuits and computer systems. He has published more than 200 scientific papers.

In addition to his job, Wolfgang Nebel is enthusiastic about deep sea sailing and photography.
