Wolfgang Soering

Wolfgang Söring (born June 8, 1943 in Vienna ) is a Hamburg pianist and composer who excelled in setting literature for children.

Soering received his training as a pianist in Germany and Belgium. It was not until the 1970s that he began composing, initially with stage and radio play musicians and setting children's books to music. Inspired by Sergei Prokofjew , he found his own way of musical theater for children. For example, he composed successful fairy tale operas based on the Grimm brothers for the Hamburg Theater for Children , of which the Bremen Town Musicians (1978) and Rumpelstiltskin (1982) were later also released on MC and CD, and Jörg Müller's picture folder Every year the jackhammer slams down to music (1976 ) for the record. In recent years Söring has increasingly composed chamber music and solo pieces for piano.

Soering taught piano at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater until his retirement .
