Wolfgang Schürger

Wolfgang Schürger (* 1964 in Nuremberg ) is a Protestant theologian .

Life

Schürger studied Protestant theology . After graduating in 1991 he received his doctorate in 1994 for Dr. theol. and received his habilitation in 2000 at the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau , where he has been teaching as a private lecturer ever since. As a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria , he initially worked in the dean's office in Nuremberg, headed the Diakonie and society-related tasks department at the Munich regional church office from 2001 to 2009 and has since been the regional church's environmental and climate officer . As an author, he wrote several works. In 2018 he was awarded the Bavarian State Medal for special services to the environment .
