Wolfgang Schimböck

Wolfgang Schimböck (born November 20, 1953 in Linz ) is an Austrian social democratic federal councilor. Schimböck was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from 2003 to 2009 and is the father of two daughters.

After training as an insurance salesman from 1969 to 1973, he worked from 1973 to 1984 as a security guard at the Federal Police Directorate in Linz , where he graduated from the police school. In 1977, Schimböck passed the civil service qualification examination (B-Matura) at the Vienna City School Council , and in 1978 he passed the vocational maturity examination at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz . In 1979 the training and service examination for service officers took place at the Vienna Police Department.

From 1984 to 1989 he worked as organizational secretary at the ÖGB -Landesexekutive OÖ, then until 1990 he was state secretary of the ASKÖ OÖ. In 1990 he passed the proficiency test for advertising mediation and advertising consulting as well as the apprentice trainer examination at the Chamber of Commerce.

From 1991 Schimböck was the managing partner of Z & K Messen und Kongresse GmbH, based in Linz and Vienna.

Political party

Schimböck joined the SPÖ in 1973. From 1976 to 1979 he was deputy district chairman of the young generation in the SPÖ, managing director of the Executive Club of Upper Austria. From 1975 to 1983 Schimböck worked as a staff representative at the Federal Police Directorate in Linz. From 1983 to 1984 he was deputy chairman of the Upper Austrian Public Employees Insurance Company . In addition, from 1983 to 1992 he was chairman of the SP section Kapuzinerstraße in Linz, he has been district chairman of the Linz Business Association since 1995, and President of the Upper Austria Business Association since 1998 . and member of the SPÖ state party board of Upper Austria. From 1985 to 2003 he was a member of the municipal council of the state capital Linz. Furthermore, he was a member of the administrative committee of the board of AUVA from 1996 to 2000 and from 2001 to 2003 a member of the administrative board and the presidium of the main association of social insurance institutions. Between October 23, 2003 and October 22, 2009, Schimböck was a member of the Federal Council.
