Wolfgang Simon (born November 18, 1933 ) is a former German football player .

career

The strong offensive outside runner, who came up from the VfB youth through the amateur team, played 99 games for VfB Stuttgart in which he scored 21 goals in the Oberliga Süd from 1953 to 1958 . He made his debut in the Oberliga Süd as an amateur in the 1953/54 round. On November 15, 1953 he was used by coach Georg Wurzer in the away game against Karlsruher SC for the first time in the league team of VfB and formed the left wing with left winger Erwin Waldner . From the 1955/56 season he was a member of the Red-Whites' regular formation and was also in seven games in the finals for the German championship for the Stuttgart team and scored two goals. In 1954 , Simon won the DFB Cup with VfB . Even before VfB won the cup again in November 1958 - the semi-finals and the final took place on September 21 and November 16, 1958, respectively - Simon moved to TSV 1860 Munich for the 1958/59 season . In his last VfB season in 1957/58 he had played all 30 games and scored ten goals for Stuttgart. From 1958 to 1962 Simon played 99 games for the "Löwen" in the league and scored 31 goals. In the first three rounds in Munich, Hans Hipp was the coach before the Austrian Max Merkel came from Dortmund in 1961/62 and took over the command. Simon, he was also a nerve-racking penalty specialist, came to the side of fellow players Johann Auernhammer , Rudi Brunnenmeier , Helmut Benthaus , Hans Küppers and Hans Reich again on 21 missions and scored six goals.

In 1962 he moved to the league promoted KSV Hessen Kassel . Simon scored four goals in 24 games for KSV in the last league season 1962/63 in the southern season and finished tenth with KSV.
