Career
Thier came to Fortuna Cologne from Eintracht Gelsenkirchen in 1972 . In his first season in 1972/73 , Rot-Weiss Essen took second place in the final table. In the following round of promotion Thier prevailed with his teammates and started the next season in the Bundesliga . Thier played five games in the promotion round. Thiers first Bundesliga season ended as the bottom of the table, so the immediate relegation followed. Thier played with Cologne for another year in the newly introduced 2nd Bundesliga , then he moved to Bonner SC
