Wolfram Schüffel

Wolfram Schüffel (* 1938 in Pirna ) is a German doctor , specialist in internal medicine and specialist in psychosomatic medicine. From 1976 to 2005 he held the chair for psychosomatics at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Live and act

Wolfram Schüffel studied philosophy, German literature and medicine in Hamburg, Berlin and Heidelberg from 1958 to 1965. His internal training took place at Thure von Uexküll . From 1969 he founded anamnesis groups (from 1972 a DFG research project). In 1975 he completed his habilitation with Thure von Uexküll in internal medicine and psychosomatics. From 1976 he headed the Clinic for Psychosomatics in Marburg in addition to his chair. After the mine accident in Stolzenbach , he was the scientific director of the aid program for those affected by the mine accident from 1988 to 1992 and the founder of the Stolzenbach aid working group. In 1988 his work on basic psychosomatic care began at the Academy for Medical Training and Education in Bad Nauheim with the first interactive doctor-patient seminar.

In 1974 he co-founded the German College for Psychosomatic Medicine (DKPM), whose secretary he was until 1996. In 1998 he founded the Working Group Functional Relaxation in the DKPM. From 1992 he set up the Wartburg Talks to intensify salutogenesis . In 1993 he co-founded the European Society on Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) in Bergen / Norway. In 1999 he was the medical co-founder of the Collegium Philosophiae Transatlanticum as the first graduate college of the DFG between Germany and the USA.

Wolfram Schüffel is married to the doctor Janet Schüffel and has two children, including Patrick Schüffel, professor at the Friborg School of Economics , Switzerland.

Awards

  • Hippocrates medal for services to general medicine
  • In 2003 he was awarded the Ernst von Bergmann plaque by the German Medical Association.
  • In 2005 he received the Gustav von Bergmann plaque from the German Medical Association.
