Wolfsfelde is a settlement belonging to the Salbke district of Magdeburg .

location

The settlement is located in the far west of the district on Ottersleber and Sülldorfer Strasse, as well as in the southern part of Beyendorfer Strasse. To the west, the districts of Hopfengarten and Beyendorfer Grund are adjacent. The border is formed by the Magdeburg – Thale railway line along which Wolfsfelde runs. To the east of the settlement lies the Lüttgen-Salbke settlement, which also belongs to Salbke . In the south there is a disused railway line that connected the Magdeburg-Halberstadt railway line with the Buckau marshalling yard, as well as the housing estate on the Spionskopf .

Wolfsfelde belongs together with Lüttgen-Salbke to the statistical district of Lüttgen-Salbke.

history

The settlement was built at the beginning of the 20th century as a residential area for workers and foremen from the Wolf machine works , which explains the name of the settlement. In the colony Wolf field of employer apartment buildings were built with the help of loans. Workers employed by Wolf founded the R. Wolfschen Werke workers' association in 1907 , to which by 1912 there were already 1,200 members. The workers' association was independent of the factory management, but was supported by it. Among other things, this association founded the Spar- und Bauverein Wolfsfelde , registered as a GmbH , which acquired a 12.5 hectare building site about 1 km west of the plant. By 1911, nine two-story houses with 57 apartments, a shop and a restaurant had already been built there. However, the savings and construction association Wolfsfelde failed financially. The settlement was then bought by the Wolf machine factory and continued as a factory settlement.

In the 1920s, the neighboring settlement of Lüttgen-Salbke was expanded in the direction of Wolfsfelde, which meant that Wolfsfelde lost its very isolated location. At the end of the Second World War , US troops moved into Wolfsfelde on April 12, 1945, coming from Ottersleben , and pushed further east in the direction of Salbke.

The railway line for freight traffic south of Wolfsfelde, inaugurated in 1896, was closed on December 7, 1995. In 2010 the renovation of the settlement buildings began.
